Our next meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 17th.

Our next lunch meeting will be Wednesday, November 15th at 12pm at Andiamo Ristorante, 2521 Rutland (at Burnet Road).
Our speaker will be Buck Cole of the Texas General Land Office. The GLO was established in 1836 (remember anything else that happened that year?). From its website: “The oldest state agency in Texas, the GLO was formed to determine who owned what and where after the Texians and Tejanos won independence. Today the General Land Office manages state lands, operates the Alamo, helps Texans recovering from natural disasters, helps fund Texas public education through the Permanent School Fund, provides benefits to Texas Veterans, and manages the vast Texas coast.” Pretty tall order, I’d say!
The title of Buck’s presentation is “Gone to Texas”.  In the 19th century, lots of folks in Tennessee and Kentucky closed up shop and pinned notes on their doors saying “GTT”. Buck will tell us about three such men who came to Texas for very different reasons.
So, please plan to attend what will be an interesting presentation. RSVP to Henry.

So, put the date on your calendar!
