Description of the interest group titled “Managing Mindfulness:”

Many of us have, or aspire to have, a daily mindfulness practice—whether it be through a gratitude journal, sitting meditation, a quiet moment with a cup of tea in a favorite chair, regular reading of relevant authors/books—we each can find our own personalized way of managing mindfulness as a part of our everyday lives.

Our monthly “Managing Mindfulness” discussion group is all about sharing what works for us as individuals, what challenges we face, what encouragement we can offer to each other.  Meeting monthly allows ongoing support and stimulation and dedication to an opportunity too easily lost in the busyness of life.  We all too easily live in our heads–preoccupied with the past or the future—all at the expense of “being here now” and experiencing this present moment.

We’ll use various online sources and books as starting points for each month’s discussion group.  We are NOT a meditation group, though we will discuss meditation as one of many potential tools/approaches which can help us deepen our understanding of what mindfulness is and how we can integrate it into our daily lives.  Similarly, this is NOT a group to promote any one particular approach/philosophy, but rather a chance for us to come together to share ALL our ideas, practices, challenges and questions about mindfulness and to support one another as we strive to be present to life!
Meeting Time:
4th Tuesday of each month, from 10am to 12:00pm—hosted by Joe Farley.
